The nature of the task of an information officer, the CIO, is complicated and unique in the organizational landscape – cross-organization, project-oriented, service-based, supporting the business and leading it. The CIO's services are intended to assist in developing a work plan and allocating resources for adapting the information systems to the organization's immediate and future business needs. Data governance is a managerial concept, designed to ensure that the information systems support, enable and enhance attainment of the organization's goals. This concept addresses, among others, the following subjects, in order to create efficient management of requirements with a view to providing quality and efficient results while constantly improving the IT services:
BDO Technology Advisory has developed a methodology for applying a work frame for data governance, based on the COBIT work frame, from IT Governance Institute (ITGI). The issue underlying this approach is the need to adapt the solution to the organization's dimensions, while finding the correct balance between effective data governance and the resources required for applying this work frame.
